Advantages of full time program
After you have selected the right nursing or medical school to go to, you then will have to decide whether or not you want to attend as a full time or part time student. Certainly many things will enter into that decision - especially if you are married and already have a family. Here are some reasons why you will want to seriously consider enrolling as a full time student.
A Faster Start Getting started in nursing or medical school on a full time basis would allow you to finish that much earlier. Your time in school will fly by as you keep busy with your new classes and tight schedule and then your education will be behind you and a new career ahead. Of course, this kind of pace works best if you are single, and do not have other major expenses. But even going full time, you still want to take time for using your already developed talents, or take the time to learn new ones - that are outside of the realm of medicine. It is important to find a balance and to stay healthy when racing to the finish. A Greater Focus Enrolling full time also gives you the opportunity to place a clearer focus on your studies. If you have many other responsibilities, then your focus becomes divided between compelling and complicated interests. Studying full time enables you to give a greater effort without as many distractions. It is quite possible, too, that learning it over a shorter period of time increases your retention level a greater percentage. More Financial Advantages Financing for your medical education is more readily obtained when you attend classes on a full time basis. A number of institutions will not give much money (if any) to a student who is less than full time. A lender may question your seriousness in finishing the course of study. They will give a greater percentage to students whose time is fully devoted to their education. A Clearer Finish One thing that may tend to slow down or discourage part time students is that they cannot always set a finish date. This means that they may be taking classes without the joy of having an exact target date for completion. It may remain rather open-ended, especially if there are extra demands on their time - such as family needs, job demands for overtime, etc. By going full time, you set a definite target date, and this encourages you to continue at a better level of encouragement and hope - knowing when graduation should come. A Quicker Career What is the training all about - getting launched into that new career! By becoming a full time student you have the prospect of getting into your new nursing or medical career field that much quicker. This is what it is all about - working in the field of your dreams - and with good pay, too. Here is where you can work a little harder, for a little while, and then get to that place you want quicker. And once you start that new career, you can then look back and ask yourself if it was worth the effort - and you will undoubtedly say - "Yes!". Making the decision to go to school on a full time basis depends on you and the factors in your life. While many today are not able to go full time, it certainly does have its advantages if you are among those who can. By Mike Valles, a freelance writer.
