Entrance exam study strategies
Here we will go over MCAT exam info. Up until the year 2002, MCAT students could keep their scores private. That means that the students themselves received the scores but could opt not for the AAMC to release the score to medical schools. When the students would retake the MCAT exam, they could send the new scores out. The schools would be aware of the second scores and would know there were two tests taken but would not be privy to these first test scores.
The option of not releasing the MCAT score no longer existed after 2003. The AAMC now has a full disclosure policy. Now, each student has what is called a THx or a Testing History report. This shows all MCAT test scores from 2003 and later. Scores prior to 2003 are still under the old rules and are not released without the student?s consent. Each student can only take the MCAT 3 times. Your best bet, of course, is to obtain the best score possible the first time around. Want more MCAT exam info? Then read on. To answer questions correctly, you only need a basic level of knowledge of certain sciences, which includes chemistry, physics, biology, and organic chemistry. To prevent yourself from having to retake the MCAT, make sure you prepare thoroughly for this exam. Doing well in your science classes is not enough. About half of those who need to retake the test end up doing so due to lack of adequate MCAT preparation. As hard as this may be to hear (or read), you offer yourself the best chance at test success by spending a couple hundred hours preparing. Not only will the MCAT test you on science, but you will also be tested on your reading skills. Scoring well on this section shows your skills at communicating and learning. The verbal reasoning section weighs heavy on the test. In fact, just ask admissions offices. Remember, that while the MCAT test is important, it is not the only thing that needs to be looked at by schools you apply to. They also look at other parts of your application, such as your GPA and education history. So, how can you prepare properly for the MCAT exam? The only answer is to study. Purchase an MCAT study guide at a bookstore or online. You can increase your score by an average of 10 points if you study and prepare thoroughly. Even though this may sound like a daunting task, it is for your own good and your own future. No one can make you decide. You need to be determined and motivated enough to put in the hard work to achieve your career goals.
